Helping communities include deaf children

Community support is a vital resource in many developing countries. Unfortunately, due to stigma, poverty or lack of information, deaf children and their families often miss out on this.

If a child or a family is excluded from their community they can miss out on essential services such as childcare, health services and education. We work with communities to make sure deaf children and their families are included in all aspects of community life. We do this by raising awareness of childhood deafness and the rights of deaf children at all levels in the community. In particular, we focus on making the right to education a reality for every deaf child.
