Sophie Stone Presents BBC Radio 4 Appeal

We are delighted that Sophie Stone, who has starred in popular shows including Doctor Who and Holby City, presented our Radio 4 Charity Appeal on Sunday 1 May raising vital funds to transform the lives of deaf children and young people across some of the world’s poorest communities.

Sophie is calling for donations to support Deaf Child Worldwide in working towards our vision of a world without barriers for every deaf child.

"Many deaf children face prejudice, rejection and exclusion from their community. Deaf Child Worldwide and the National Deaf Children’s Society work together to break those barriers to make sure that deaf children have opportunities so that they can reach their full potential.”

Sophie shares the story of 14 year old Ester (left) in Uganda who was bullied and forced out of school. Her mother Norah, was left to bring up six children on her own after her husband abandoned her. But she was still determined that her three deaf children would get back into school, made possible through the support of Deaf Child Worldwide.
