UNESCO guides and research
This toolkit contains six Booklets, each of which contains tools and activities for self-study to start creating an inclusive, learning-friendly environment (ILFE). Some of these activities ask reader to reflect on what his/her school are doing now in terms of creating on ILFE, while others actively guide reader in improving his/her skills as a teacher in a diverse classroom.
This guide provides basic information on the identification of deafness, importance of sign language and the need of education for deaf children. It is accompanied by a video, filmed primarily in Uganda, but with some footage of inclusive practice in Lesotho.
Research published in 1984, covering a summary of trends and principles in the field of education of the deaf and suggestions for enhancing developments at the national and international level.
Published in 1987, a simply written guide for teachers covering language acquisition, information about communication approaches and teaching methods.
Produced in 1986, these guidelines cover the needs and strengths of families, the definition of a professional-parent partnerships and practical tips for working together with families throughout the life of a disabled child.
