- Paper synopsis
Gwen Glasgow, a parent activist in Guyana South America uses the analogry of a parent association as a bundle of sticks. One stick, just like one parent may easily break, but when they come together as a bundle, they cannot be broken.
This article was written about family-based associations for the families of children with learning difficulties. However, many of the points are equally relevant to those associations of families with deaf children.
The article identifies some of the major types of family-based groups, describes the benefits of families coming together and some of the major challenges faced by such associations.
