My Story
I am a mother of four children - two boys and two girls. My second child is a girl who was born deaf. At present my whole family are now Canadian citizens and we reside in Toronto, Canada. Originally I was born in the Philippines until I emmigrated here to Toronto to work as a nanny. I learned from so many articles that Canada is a good country especially for my daughter Pilarcita who was born deaf. It is true she got a good education here. After finishing high school here in Toronto she is now studying at Gallaudet University in Washington DC, USA. Now I am taking sign language classes because I don't want to forget my sign language. My dream is to go back in the Philippines and help deaf children in the rural areas because there is no school for the deaf in the province where I come from. I am now starting to gather facts and information on how i could help these poor kids who are not at school. Next week I am going to volunteer at Bob Rumball Foundation Centre for the Deaf so I could learn more about deaf community and improve my sign language communication skills.
