Synopsis:
Refurbishment of used NHS hearing aids (various types) by prisoners at HMP Frankland. Prisoners are trained to clean, repair and test a wide range of hearing aids, which are then despatched to Lions Club International Used Hearing Equipment Project for distribution to a wide number of hearing projects around the world.

Training of instructors was carried out by Starkey Labs, Stockport.

This work provides a purposeful activity for prisoners serving long-term sentences in a maximum security prison.

Recommendations:
To expand this repair project to other prisons in the country.
