Why should I use Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is one of the easiest ways to make your donation tax effective if you pay tax in the UK.

Indian girl with her grandmotherA Gift Aid example: Although basic UK rate tax is currently 22 per cent, a donation for £10 is treated as the amount after tax is deducted from £12.80 (£12.80 minus 22 per cent is approximately £10). IDCS gets £2.80 back from the Inland Revenue, or an additional 28 per cent for basic rate taxpayers.

How do I sign up for Gift Aid?

child listeningYou need to state that you want the tax paid on your donation to go to IDCS rather than Inland Revenue.

Gift Aid - do I qualify?

To qualify for Gift Aid you must pay tax to the British government. Providing you pay as much tax as IDCS will be entitled to reclaim on your donations, you are entitled to use Gift Aid. For example, if you wish to Gift Aid donations that total £100 in one financial year, you need to have paid at least £28 to Inland Revenue that year.
