Summary:

To council families with deaf children and provide support for the children themselves.

Aim:

To contribute to defending the rights of deaf children from the poor income group through their families and siblings.

Beneficiaries:

Deaf children and young people aged 2 to 25 from 100 families from the poor income group in Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka

Activities:

Workshops for parents of deaf children on:
- deaf children's rights to education
- communication methods
- equal opportunities to employment and vocational training courses
-rights to housing and healthcare
-awaerness of sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS and risk of abuse

Other activities include sign language classes for parents and siblings and training of trainers to repeat the rights workshops with other groups of parents.
