Summary:

To develop a school for the deaf and post hearing aids rehabilitation center.

Aim:

The central aim of the project is to help deaf children in Zanzibar mix with their community and increase their chances of indepence and moving out of poverty.

Beneficiaries:

Deaf children in Zanzibar under 8 years old and their families

Activities:

- Sign language training for deaf children, parents and family members
- Support for children with hearing aids to develop speech
- Educational trips (market, playground, airport etc.) and outings to remote areas of Zanzibar for deaf children to mix with the community
- Supervised workshops on arts and creative development, and handiwork
