Summary:
The project will focus on teaching sign language in two after-school inclusive kids clubs in Galle, as well as supporting families with deaf children.
Aim:
The project aims to bring about greater community inclusion through building capacity and knowledge among deaf children and their families, with the active participation of deaf adults.
Beneficiaries:
- 160 school aged deaf children
- 40 families of deaf children
- 20 Social Service Officers
- 20 deaf adults
Activities:
- Teach sign language, rights awareness and advocacy skills to children at two deaf kid's clubs
- Support the inclusion of deaf children in existing inclusive kids clubs run by Sarvodaya
- Provide outreach support to families of deaf children
- Parents support group and teach families sign language and rights
- Teach Social Service Officers sign language and deaf children's rights

- Write a community inclusion manual to capture lessons learnt
